"God Winks"

Today I learned about "God winks."  God winks are little moments throughout your day when you see or feel something special that reminds you that God is there.  For instance, at youth group this afternoon we were commenting about how we miss lightning strikes and the house-shaking thunder that we get in the States but not here in Japan.  Then a few hours later, while driving home in the rain that has been coming down steadily all day, we saw two to three flashes of lightning and even heard some distant thunder.  That was one of the first times I have heard thunder and/or seen lightning (despite a multitude of rainy days) since moving here about eight months ago.  It was a pretty neat reminder when one of my youth leaders pointed out that God was listening when we were talking about storms earlier in the afternoon and cares even about small things like flashes of lightning and rolls of thunder.  He can use anything to remind us of His presence, and it's pretty neat when we notice and realize it was God.  So that's my "God wink" for the day, and now I'll be paying closer attention to the little things that happen in my life that, more often than not, I likely take for granted.
